Scott Stapp from Creed Will Headline New Bedford’s Portuguese Feast
Year after year, New Bedford hosts the biggest Portuguese Feast in the world. This year will be the 105th. On Thursday nights, the entertainment committee historically will bring in a national headliner for the main stage. Fun 107 has confirmed that this year's headliner will be Scott Stapp from the band Creed.
Creed has had a number of huge hits including "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open." "Higher" spent a record-breaking 17 weeks at the top of the rock charts, and "With Arms Wide Open" was a Grammy Award-winning song that Scott Stapp wrote for his unborn child. Scott will perform both of those smash hits along with a bunch of other Creed and solo songs.
The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament has tapped a number of throwback national acts in the past including the Gin Blossoms, Everclear, Candlebox, the Spin Doctors, Queensryche, Tonic, and others.
This year's Portuguese Feast will take place August 1-4 at the Madeira Field in New Bedford. In addition to the national acts, the feast always provides traditional Portuguese singers and dancers that celebrate the Portuguese heritage.
The feast wraps up the weekend with a 5K road race followed by one of the biggest parades that New Bedford sees each year.
