Calling all wanna-be architects, builders and anyone who appreciates a great day on the beach...the SouthCoast has TWO exciting sandcastle days coming up.

On Saturday, July 23, there will be a Family Sand Sculpture Festival at Horseneck Beach in Westport.

There will be prizes awarded, but to take part, you must must register before July 22 by calling Jenna at the Horseneck Beach office at (508) 636-8816. All ages and skill levels are welcome, competing in four categories: sand fleas (ages up to 12), sand hoppers (13-17), sand shapers (18+) and a family category as well. There will only be 50 sculptures considered for judging; bring your own pails and shovels. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is $13 for Massachusetts vehicles and $15 for out-of-state vehicles.

Then on Saturday, August 20, the Onset Bay Association is hosting Sandcastle Day on Onset Beach.

Bring your buckets and shovels and join Rodney the Sandman as he builds some amazing sand sculptures, and you can build your own right alongside him. The event is free and will take place from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
