According to the Providence Journal, The Department of Environmental Regulation will open Rocky Point this Saturday, on October 25th from 10a.m to 4p.m.

The park will be opened for the day to give Rhode Islanders the opportunity to explore the grounds and see the redevelopment of the site. Governor Lincoln Chafee will also being touring the cleared site with DEM director Janet Coit, Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, members of Rhode Island’s Congressional Delegation, and many others.

DEM acquired the 83 acres of Rocky Point back in March 2013. The area will be integrated with the 41 acres of shoreline that was bought by the City of Warwick back in 2007.

Many local Rhode Islanders are extremely excited for this day opening of Rocky point. Many are remembering the great memories the amusement park gave them with it's 150 year history of nature trails, a ferry pier, clambakes, rides and much more.
