Still angry at your ex? Have a cat pee on their name.

The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is “celebrating” Valentine’s Day in a unique way by dedicating it to the heartbroken.

For a $5 donation, the RISPCA will write your ex’s name in a litter box, and the cats will do their business all over it.

The “Love Stinks” Valentine's Day Promotion at RISPCA

Stephanie Van Patten, the director of community relations at RISPCA, was hesitant about the idea at first but ultimately decided that it was the perfect way to raise a little money for the nonprofit and bring some humor to the lovey-dovey holiday.

“My cat manager, Olivia, came to me and said, ‘I have this really funny idea,” Van Patten said.

The plan was born.

People would donate $5 and send in the name of an ex-friend, lover or anything they hate. The RISPCA  would write it on card stock, place it in the litter box and have the cats leave a lasting message on it.

The promotion has been spreading like wildfire, and as of Monday, the RISPCA has received over 350 names to be dumped into the litter.

“We’ve gotten donations from Alaska, Texas, Missouri (and) states up and down the East Coast,” Van Patten said. “We plan on making a map and we are hoping to get every state to represent themselves with Love Stinks.

Van Patten is thrilled with the success of the promotion, and Valentine's Day is still a month away.

“The reaction we have gotten from the public has been incredible,” Van Patten said. “We hope to take snippets of video and make a compilation to share on our socials.”

Visit RISPCA online and let your ex know how you feel.
