Rhode Island Wedding Stuns Guests With Cinematic Cake-Cutting Moment [VIDEO]
Cue the medieval music.
On Saturday, October 4, deep in the wooded hills of Foster, Rhode Island (or “Foster-Glocester,” as the locals call it), something truly legendary unfolded at the Foster Country Club.
Desja Long and Roman Botelho tied the knot in a ceremony that was anything but ordinary – a fitting nod to their first dance choice, “Ordinary” by Alex Warren.
A Wedding Like No Other
From start to finish, the newlyweds redefined what a memorable wedding looks like. The ceremony was a breezy eight to 10 minutes – record-breaking by most standards and mercifully short under the hot autumn sun. The first dance was a choreographed performance that left guests speechless.
It was the cake-cutting, though, that had everyone talking long after the night ended.

The Sword That Stole the Show
As the DJ (that’s me) announced, “Here ye’, here ye! Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please? At this time, I’d like to invite King Roman and Lady Desja to cut their cake with a little help from something special,” the room buzzed with curiosity.
Moments later, I reached under the DJ table and revealed the “something special": a 30-to-40-pound sword. Yes, an actual sword.

Kneeling before the groom, I presented it with a bow. The crowd gasped, phones shot up, and the Game of Thrones theme roared through the speakers.
Roman unsheathed the massive blade with the care of a true knight, his bride by his side. Together, they sliced their wedding cake in cinematic fashion – just enough for a bite each – while the room erupted in applause.
A Night Fit for Royalty
After the cheers, I helped clean and sheath the sword, tucking it safely back beneath the table. The moment was over, but the memory was unforgettable. In over 12 years of weddings, this one easily takes the cake – quite literally.
