Saturday is Clear the Shelters day across the country with the goal of finding thousands of pets their forever homes.

If you have been looking to adopt a pet, this Saturday is your day.

Because it is Clear the Shelters Day coast-to-coast and many shelters will be reducing or waiving their adoption fees.

Surprisingly there were not any SouthCoast shelters or rescues listed as participating in this year's national event. But there are several in Rhode Island.

So it may be a bit of a trip to find that pet of your dreams, but half priced adoption fees are probably worth it.

Here's where you can head this Saturday to learn more.

One Dog At a Time Rescue on Roseland Terrace in Tiverton

Potter League for Animals on Oliphant Lane in Middletown

The Rhode Island SPCA on Amaral Street in Riverside

All three of these rescue will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday to start adoptions.

Of course you will still have to fill out paperwork and be approved to adopt these pets. The Clear the Shelters event isn't just a free-for-all on animals. The goal is to find these pets forever homes, so all of these agencies will be looking for the perfect owner for each animal.
