Meet the Dancing Witches of Rhode Island Bringing Magic to Halloween

The beloved witchy season is in full swing as we approach All Hallows' Eve. For one Rhode Island group, it's the busiest time of year.

Who Are the Dancing Witches of Rhode Island?

"We're about 30 people in our group, and people contact us to ask if we can dance." Diane Davison said. She's a member of a festive group, The Dancing Witches of RI.

"Some friends of mine asked me to do it way back in 2021, to join them in the parade," Davison said. "I said yes, and I had so much fun. I had to keep doing it."

What Do the Dancing Witches Do?

They can be seen at marketplaces, festivals, parades and more. "We've done a few private parties and a wedding last month," Davison said.

Led by choreographer Alesia Payne, The Dancing Witches of RI rehearse their dances, which originated in Wolfshagen im Harz, Germany.

"It's about having fun and making people happy. It's very exhilarating," Davison said.

If you feel inspired by the moves, feel free to jump in. "Anyone that wants to dance, they're free to join us," she said.
