Remembering Those Who Died From COVID-19 [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
A remembrance ceremony for those who have died from COVID-19 will be held on Thursday, May 20, beginning at 5 p.m. at Monte Park off Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford.
The event is being organized by John "Buddy" Andrade of the Old Bedford Development Corp., and Jerry Pinto of Neighborhoods United.
Andrade told Townsquare Sunday that people from all over the city are invited to attend. He's urging them to bring flowers and photos of their loved ones.
Also invited are members of the clergy, city leaders, and local entertainers.
Andrade says the event is the first of several being planned around the city to bring people together, reflect about their loved ones, and talk about ways to improve the community. Andrade's interview can be heard here:
