REHOBOTH (WBSM) — An Avon man is charged with driving under the influence and other motor vehicle infractions after a Rehoboth crash Tuesday night.

According to Rehoboth Police, Patrolwoman Alora Clemens was traveling in the area of 119 Winthrop Street when she saw a gray Honda Accord speeding down the other side of the road. She also saw the vehicle cross the center line and enter the opposite lane. It then struck a Dodge Caravan head-on.

Woman Hospitalized After Crash

Both vehicles were heavily damaged. The driver of the caravan, identified only as a 39-year-old Rhode Island woman, was taken to a local hospital. Neither her condition nor her name were released.

Driver Identified and Injured

The driver of the Honda was identified as Jacob Larsen, 22, of Avon. He was also taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Charges Filed After Driver Appears Intoxicated

According to police, Larsen “displayed signs and symptoms of intoxication of alcohol.” He was taken into custody and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, speeding, marked lanes violation, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Larsen will be arraigned in Taunton District Court.
