Red Sox Celebrate Portuguese Heritage At Fenway Park This June
Someone at the Boston Red Sox deserves a raise. The team has announced it will honor Portuguese heritage this June with a special celebration at Fenway Park.
For the first time in Red Sox history, Fenway Park host a Portuguese Celebration. It will take place on Wednesday, June 3, when the Red Sox take on the Baltimore Orioles.
A First For Fenway Park
The team hopes the Portuguese American community will embrace the day in Boston by wearing red, green and gold, enjoying Fenway Franks and taking in a classic baseball experience.
"Show your Portuguese pride and support as we honor the rich history, culture and contributions of the Portuguese community," the Red Sox said in a release.
Perfect Timing For a Big Celebration
The timing could not be better. With the World Cup set to kick off at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro the following week, the Boston area is expected to see an influx of international visitors.
For those looking to experience a true American tradition, it does not get more iconic than a baseball game at Fenway Park.
The Portuguese Celebration also serves as a lead up to Day of Portugal on June 10, making it an exciting stretch for the local Portuguese community.
What Fans Can Expect At The Game
To make the night even more festive, the Red Sox will give away Portugal-themed Red Sox soccer jerseys to fans who purchase tickets through the special event link.
Jerseys will be available in adult sizes small through extra large, with preferred sizes distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy cultural performances, food and a lively atmosphere celebrating Portuguese heritage in Boston, New Bedford, Fall River, and across Massachusetts.
For questions or groups of 15 or more, fans can contact the Red Sox Ticket Office at ticketoffice@redsox.com.
