Red Sox Alums To Play At Fenway
Back in the day, they'd call this an "Old Timers Game", but times are different. We live in a kinder, more sensitive world, so the Red Sox are dubbing this an "Alumni Game". Stars of Red Sox past will compete with each other before next Sunday's game at Fenway Park (May 27th, 2018).
It's a chance to see Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez take the Fenway mound one more time. If Wade Boggs broke your heart when he became a Yankee, this is a chance to see him wear the Red Sox home whites just one more time.
A hero from the 2004 World Series team, Derek Lowe, will be on the mound. Third basemen Mike Lowell, who will be inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame with Lowe, will make his return to the Fenway hotspot.
Also expected to play: Oil Can Boyd, Bill Lee, Mike Greenwell, Orlando Cabrera, Jonny Gomes, Sam Horn, Troy O'Leary, Rich "El Guapo" Garces, Steve Lyons and Scott Cooper.
The teams will be managed by one of the best right fielders in Red Sox history, Dewey Evans and former Red Sox hurler, Luis Tiant.
This will be a 3 inning game with first pitch at 10:30am. People with tickets to next Sunday's Red Sox/Braves game will be able to attend at no additional charge.
