COVENTRY, R.I. — Police in Rhode Island are searching for information after finding a dog suffering from severe malnutrition.

Coventry Police responded to the area of Sherwood Valley Road at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday after residents found the hungry and weak dog in the streets.

Seeing the dog was in immediate need of veterinarian attention, Coventry Animal Control transported the male dog to Ocean State Veterinary Specialist. Upon careful examination of the dog, the veterinarian determined that given the dog's condition and level of suffering, humane euthanizing the animal was the best decision.
