Harry Potter fans rejoice. Real live US Quidditch is coming to Rhode Island this month.

Who knew that quidditch was an actual sport being played in the United States? Not me.

But I now know that the Northeast Regional Championships for US Quidditch is going to be played in Warwick, Rhode Island the weekend of October 26 & 27.

Yes in just a couple of weeks you can actually watch people play quidditch. Presumably not while flying through the air as Harry Potter would have done it.

Teams of college students from all six New England states as well as New York will be competing to represent the Northeast at the US Quidditch Cup and you can cheer them on for free.

So if watching quidditch sounds intriguing, the event is absolutely free and open to the public at the Bend Street Field Complex in Warwick.

And if you want to try it out for yourself, they are going to have youth quidditch on both Saturday and Sunday for elementary, middle, and high school students (sorry adults, you're outta luck I guess).

As far as free family fun goes, this definitely sounds like a winner.

No matter the age of your Harry Potter fan, watching real live quidditch has got to be a bit fun and exciting.

And there will be teams from Harvard, UMASS Amherst, BU and more to cheer on.

Plus if you end up missing the Northeast Regional Championships this October, they will be returning to Warwick next fall for the 2020 Championships.
