Fall has been in the air and all the Autumn events we know and love are starting to return across the region.

From corn mazes to fall festivals, your seasonal schedule is going to fill up fast, but make sure you save time for one of the area's favorite fall attractions - Roger Williams Park Zoo's Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.

For decades, thousands of intricately carved pumpkins have been lining the zoo's paths each October. This year, they're adding something a little different.

Roger Williams Park Zoo recently announced that the theme for the 2024 Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular would be 'Trivia Edition.'

In an interesting mix of fall fun and trivia night, the zoo plans to spring tricky trivia questions on their guests as they walk among this year's dazzling array of pumpkins.

Throughout the pumpkin path will be brain teasing questions about pop culture, sports, history and more.

You might even need to test your knowledge of the zoo itself!

Sounds like a fun new addition to this iconic area event.

When Does The Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Return to Roger Williams Park Zoo?

The new season of the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular will run from September 27 through November 2, 2024 and will feature a few special nights during that run.

Families can enjoy a meet and greet with the 501st Star Wars Costume Club on October 8 & 9 as well as Sensory Nights on October 22 & 23 from 5-6PM. During those nights the event will open early for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences and the pumpkins will be illuminated without lights or sound.

Just remember that the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular is a rain or shine event, with no refunds for tickets on nights with light to moderate rain.

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
