Viva Portugal!

Portugal fans take to Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, MA in celebration of Portugal's Championship win over France in the 2016 Euro Cup.

This is footage from the crowd and a line of vehicles that literally blocked the entire venue that took over an hour to get from end to end. Eventually, New Bedford Police had to block off the flow of traffic from entering onto the Ave to get the traffic moving again.

Despite losing star player Cristiano Ronaldo to injury in the 24th minute, Portugal held on for a storybook finish to topple France 1-0 in the final of the European Championships to win their first major soccer tournament.

Substitute center Éder scored the goal, in extra time, for the win. France was the sentimental favorite going in, following the Paris terrorist attacks and other turmoil in recent months, and it appeared the game was theirs on their home turf once Ronaldo injured his knee (MCL) and left the game on a stretcher.

However, Éder’s stunning goal gave Portugal the upset victory and set up a victory celebration SouthCoast Futbol (soccer) fans won’t soon forget!
