Police are asking the public to help identify a woman found at Buttonwood Park Monday afternoon.

Two passersby found the woman's body around 3:15 p.m. in a wooded area near Buttonwood Park Pond, according to New Bedford Police Lieutennant Amos Mello.

The black woman, who appears to be in her 50s, was found fully clothed in black pants, a white hooded sweatshirt and flip-flops.

Police say the cause of death hasn't been determined, but no signs of trauma or drug use were found.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and are asking the public to help identify the woman.
