Going out to eat with the whole family can really add up. Parents used to be able to save with "Kids Eat Free" deals, but it seems like the trend is disappearing these days.

There used to be dozens of restaurants that offered free or reduced price kids meals with the purchase of an adult meal, but now you are hard pressed to find a place where this still exists. So what happened to "Kids Eat Free?"

After some serious searching, we could only find a few places on the Southcoast that still give you a deal when you dine out with your kids...

  • Baseball season is be free meal for the kids season at the 99 Restaurants. Like most summers, they are offering their kids eat free deal after every Red Sox win this season...so Go Sox!
  • Spring is also a time when IHOP serves up free kids meals every day of the week. Right now through May 6, 2016 any night is kids eat free night at IHOP locations (like in Dartmouth) with the purchase of an adult meal.
  • Wednesday nights seem to be the most popular for kids nights. At Barrett's Alehouse and Gameroom in Fall River your kids eat free when you buy and adult entree and you can nab them a game card at half price as well. An actual night out for the whole family!
  • Wednesdays also means free kids meals at Jerry Remy's in Fall River. Between 5-8 p.m. you can get a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal, plus if you check their Facebook page before you go they may have fun characters there for your kids to meet too.

So why are there only four local restaurants offering "Kids Eat Free" nights anymore? Why have so many other places stopped this trend? I mean wouldn't you want to persuade parents to eat at your establishment, especially with so many places to choose from each night?

Do you know of any other places where kids can eat free on the Southcoast?
