Another major retailer is closing hundreds of locations nationwide.

Honestly, this was a store closing that was just waiting to happen.

I can't tell you how many times I have driven by Pier 1 Imports with my husband and wondered out loud how in the world they stay in business.

I almost never see anyone shopping at one and can't remember the last time I bought anything at a Pier 1.

And yet, there they were year after year with close to 1,000 stores operating across the country.

Sadly, that is coming to an end.

The company announced that they would be closing nearly half of their 942 storefronts as well as laying off an unknown amount of employees from their Fort Worth, Texas headquarters.

And though they admit up to 450 stores are going to have to go to keep the company in business, they have not yet revealed which stores will be going.

There are a few locations around the SouthCoast that could get the ax. Faunce Corner Rd in North Dartmouth of course, plus stores on Highland Ave in Seekonk and Bald Hill Rd in Warwick.

I would think it was safe to assume at least one of these locations is going to close. Again, their always seem empty so why keep three within a dozen or so miles from each other open?

Which ones stay and which ones go remains to be seen, but we'll of course let you know as soon as we do.

Because the going-out-of-business sale is probably going to be great.
