Dartmouth People’s Pressed Location Will Close
People's Pressed is closing its Padanaram location.
The juice shop and wellness cafe, which also has a downtown New Bedford storefront, made the announcement on Facebook, with owner Amanda Desrosiers noting the time felt right.
"These past few years have been some of the most challenging for us (and mostly everyone and I had a baby)," she wrote. "But now it’s time for us to grow again and sometimes growth means taking a step back and I’m here for that!"
It was also time to negotiate the lease for the Elm Street shop in one of Dartmouth's most desirable neighborhoods. As with everything else, the cost was about to increase.
"It wasn’t really a matter of thinking about closing the location; we don’t want to close it," Desrosiers told Fun 107. "Rent is high down in Padanaram Village — it’s a dream location for any business. But naturally, with a lease renegotiation, rent was increased and that's when we made the decision to let it go."
Desrosiers took on the lease for the Dartmouth location in 2019 but the actual opening was delayed into 2020 due to the pandemic.
"We’ve loved being here for the past three seasons and have met some wonderful people," Desrosiers said.
What are Amanda's plans for the future of People's Pressed and its 141 Union Street location in New Bedford?
"We want to continue to grow again and sometimes with growth you need to step back in order to see the bigger picture," she said, reiterating her Facebook post. "We’re excited for what the future brings and have some things up our sleeve for our downtown New Bedford location that we think our community will love."
The Padanaram Village location will stay open with altered hours of operation through Sept. 26th.
