One ‘Ozark’ Cast Member Actually Calls Rhode Island Home
This is the weekend we all sit down to watch the final seven episodes of the Netflix hit series Ozark, because how can we not binge it?
Don’t worry, though; we promise this article is spoiler-free.
The series may take place in Missouri (and is filmed in Georgia), but you may not be aware that there is a connection to the show that is very close to the SouthCoast.
One of the actors on Ozark actually calls Rhode Island home. Narragansett, Rhode Island, to be exact.
Trevor Long played Cade Langmore in the first two seasons. The father of Ruth Langmore – who has arguably become the main protagonist heading into the final seven episodes – Cade tried to manipulate his daughter into killing Marty Byrde.
Long plays a very convincing Ozark mountain man, but in actuality, he was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, and grew up in Pittsburgh after moving there in second grade. He then received his Bachelor of Arts in acting at Brown University in Providence, and he must have fallen in love with the Ocean State then, because he’s mentioned in interviews that he may work out of New York, but that he lives in Rhode Island. He frequently posts oceanside photos on his Instagram as well using the hashtag #narragansettri.
Long told an interviewer from AwardsDaily.com that a transport driver for the filming of Ozark was convinced he was actually from, well, the Ozarks. “He asked a member of the crew where we got this redneck guy from. He wondered if I went to his school or if I was from Alabama,” Long said. “He found out I was from New York and he couldn’t believe it.”
Long isn’t the only Ozark cast member who spent some time in Providence. Laura Linney, who plays Wendy Byrde, also studied acting at Brown.
