Mattapoisett Students Win Top Honors in Art Competition
There’s something special happening inside the art rooms at Old Rochester Regional High School in Mattapoisett, and now the rest of the region is taking notice.
Several talented students have earned top honors in the prestigious 9th Congressional District Art Competition, earning top honors across multiple categories.
Leading the way is Ian Hartwig, whose striking original drawing captured first place in the Drawing category. His piece, rich in detail and emotion, stood out among entries from across the district and will now represent the region at a higher level.
A Strong Showing Across Multiple Categories
In the Mixed Media category, Lauren Serpa earned second place, while Jocelyn Yurof secured third, showcasing the creativity coming out of the school’s art program.
The community will have a chance to see these award-winning pieces up close at the exhibition’s opening reception on Friday, April 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, where awards will also be presented.

Community Invited to Celebrate Student Artists
Principal Michael Devoll praised the students’ dedication, calling their work a reflection of both talent and opportunity within the school’s art program.
