Nick Cardi, who along with his brothers Ron and Pete formed the "NIROPE" team of Cardi's Furniture, has passed away after a four-year battle with cancer.

His death was announced on the Cardi's Furniture Facebook page.

It's undeniable that the Cardi family has been in our lives and homes for many years so they have truly become a SouthCoast staple. I'm pretty sure I have several pieces of Cardi furniture in my home.

The Cardi brothers have always been a big part of the community in giving back, especially with their annual Meeting Street telethon, which would benefit the Schwartz Center in Dartmouth, helping SouthCoast kids with special needs.

And who could possibly not crack a smile when seeing the three of them in their Cardi's Furniture commercials on TV?

It's going to be hard to imagine those commercials without all three of them. Ron and Pete will continue to grow their furniture business as Nick would have wanted them to.

This is an unfortunate reminder of the power cancer still has over us. Four years of struggle shows Nick's will to live and fight.

Here is the amazing tribute they posted on the Cardi's Furniture Facebook page:

We celebrate the life of our brother, partner and friend, Nicholas Cardi Jr. Nick passed away today after a 4 year courageous battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick’s wife and son, along with our entire family.

From our grandmother Rosa starting Cardi's Furniture in 1928, to our dad, Nicholas Cardi Sr. and uncle Peter, to NIROPE, Nick, Ron and Pete, our Cardi family tradition in the furniture and mattress business continues with Ron, Pete and our entire team of employees, for many years to come. In celebration of the legacy of our family, we are comforted with memories as we continue serving our communities now and in the future.
