If you are looking for something fun to do today, Dads get free admission today at the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford in honor of Father's Day.  All dads will get into the zoo for free when accompanied by a paying child.

It's a chance for you to get to know the zoo’s very own animal dad, Crumpet, a Bolivian Gray Titi Monkey. Crumpet's home is in the soo’s Rainforest Rivers and Reefs exhibit and is one of only 55 titis in 18 Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited institutions in North America.

Some of my favorite memories as a dad have happened at the Buttonwood Park Zoo.  I always enjoyed it as an outing because it was just the perfect amount of time for little ones.  It was enough time to feel like you did something substantial, but the outing ended (usually) prior to any major meltdowns.  We'd get to the zoo in mid-morning and be home in time for an afternoon nap.

The Zoo is located at 425 Hawthorn Street in New Bedford and is open from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, with the last admission at 4:15 pm. Ticket prices for non-New Bedford Residents are $10 for adults/$6 for children 312; Ticket prices for New Bedford Residents are $7.50 for adults/$4.50 for children 3-12.
