New Bedford Woman Hides Under Trash to Avoid Arrest

NEW BEDFORD - A New Bedford woman is arrested after trying to evade police by hiding under garbage.

New Bedford Police were executing an arrest warrant at 13 Spruce Street at 6:44 a.m. on Wednesday, searching for Maya Valentin, 34, of that address. When they arrived at the home, a male occupant told police Valentin was not there.

Police searched the home and found Valentin hiding under some trash in the attic.

Valentin was arrested on three outstanding warrants and was also charged with resisting arrest.
