New Bedford Woman Found Dead of Apparent Drug Overdose

NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford woman is dead of an apparent drug overdose.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office confirms the 25-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her bed by her father at about 5 p.m. on Sunday in their County Street apartment.

The woman was transported to St. Luke's Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A spokesman for the District Attorney's Office says the victim had a long history of heroin abuse and several failed attempts at rehab.

A toxicology will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
