The New Bedford Whaling Museum will open its doors for Homeschool Day on Friday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What Does It Cost?

Students ages 4-18 can visit the museum at a discounted rate:

$10 for students

$12 for adults

Things to Do

There are plenty of activities and things to see at the Whaling Museum. From the Kids' Corner and the sand table to story time and even the inflatable whale, your kids will be entertained for hours.

While enjoying the different rooms, be on the lookout for the scavenger hunt whales hiding in the museum.

Extras

For an additional cost ($4 per person), visitors can see Sea Lions, a 25-minute 3D movie recommended for all ages.

Showtimes:

  • 10:30 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m.
  • 1:30 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m.

Students ages eight and older can try the Squid Dissection Workshop. This hands-on, one hour class costs an additional $7 and is offered at three different times throughout the day: 9:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 1:15 p.m.

Pre-registration is encouraged as each class can only accommodate 16 people.

Can't make it to the museum this Friday? No worries. The New Bedford Whaling Museum will offer a spring Homeschool Day on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
