NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford teen has been killed in a multi-car crash in the city's North End, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office confirmed.

New Bedford Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash at 1:13 a.m. in the area of 5 Nauset Street on Sunday. According to the police department logs, the caller reported that the driver of one of the vehicles involved had left the scene before police arrived.

Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, tells WBSM News that according to the preliminary investigation, two vehicles collided in the area of 5 Nauset Street early Sunday morning. A passenger in one of the vehicles, Masyn Bleheen, 18, of New Bedford, was pronounced dead at 2:37 a.m.

Miliote says the drivers of both of the vehicles and other passengers left the scene of the crash before police arrived. Multiple parties believed to have been involved in the accident were later located at St. Luke's Hospital, according to Miliote. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Miliote says while the crash remains under investigation, excessive speed appears to have been a factor.

The crash is under investigation by New Bedford Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
