New Bedford Creamery Gets a Deal With a Legendary Brand
New Bedford's Surfside Creamery has secured a pretty hard-to-get deal with world renowned brand Hershey's Ice Cream just in time for the summer.
When Surfside came onto the scene last year, it was met with lots of community support, but the ownership knew it could build a better product and put in the work to do just that.
Ian Abreu, one of the owners of Surfside Creamery, shared with us the creamery has inked a deal with Hershey's Ice Cream to be its exclusive retailer on the SouthCoast and throughout southeastern Massachusetts.

What the Team Up Between New Bedford's Surfside Creamery and Hershey's Ice Cream Means
This partnership will ensure that Surfside doesn't run out of any of the local favorites and will allow them to have more flavors of ice cream and sherbets as well as sugar-free and dairy-free options. In all, there will be 24 flavors available, including some on a rotating basis.
As we all know, Hershey isn't just a well-known brand in the United States, it is iconic across the globe.
"It's not easy task to be chosen by the brand to be a partner," Abreu said. "It took lots of applications, paperwork and several meetings at Hershey's Creamery headquarters in Seekonk to secure this."
Hershey's Will Keep Things Fresh and Local at Surfside Creamery
Abreu said weekly deliveries of fresh ice cream are expected and that one of the Hershey delivery drivers actually lives not too far from the Surfside Creamery.
This is a total game-changer for the creamery and the news couldn't have come at a better time as the weather is slowly beginning to warm up.
Abreu Lays Down the Ice Cream Gauntlet
"We are blessed to have this partnership with a brand that is known for only using the highest-quality ingredients," Abreu said, noting Hershey's uses the highest grade butter fat and cream for the best flavor.
"I'll put our ice cream up against any in the area in a blind taste test and we will get picked every time," Abreu said.
Looks like we have some ice cream tasting to get to this summer.
