New Bedford Police Investigating Two Shots Fired Incidents
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police are investigating two separate incidents of shots fired in the city that occurred early this morning and have arrested someone in connection with one of them.
According to police, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at around 1 a.m. in the area of the Summer Street-Weld Street intersection. Officers discovered damage to the window of a Summer Street residence.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police said that at about the same time, officers responded to a Yale Street residence for a report of a man with a gun. The investigation determined that Alfredo Loya, 22, allegedly discharged a firearm at the residence before fleeing the scene.
Police said Loya has several active warrants for his arrest and will now also be wanted on new charges stemming from last night’s incident.
These two incidents follow a shots fired incident that occurred last Thursday, June 20, at about 11:30 p.m. in the area of Dewolf Street and Mt. Vernon Street. No one was injured in that incident, but police said damage was discovered to a nearby property.
