Every time I think I've seen it all, the universe finds a way to surprise me.

On a random Sunday night, I opened the fridge to find nothing but empty disappointment. With grocery day approaching and a rumbling stomach, I decided to grab some grub with close friends. After the process of elimination, we decided on Top Shelf Bar & Grill on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, because, after all, who couldn't use a "top shelf" drink?

I've frequented this restaurant many times and for good reason. I've never actually checked out the drink menu considering I always order the same Tito's and soda water. Sometimes change is a good thing. I'm glad I was in the mood to mix it up (pun intended).

The moment my eyes found the words "espresso martini flight," I was all in. Now, I've heard of a flight of beer and even a flight of wine, but never a flight of martinis. Being a sucker for a good espresso martini, I placed the order. Within five minutes, I was graced with the most beautiful display of adult beverages.

I'll tell you what, when I think of "booze flights," I picture small glasses with samples of the alcohol, but was not ready for what Top Shelf had in mind. My reaction shows it all:

Ready for the kicker? All three martinis cost a grand total of $12. At only $4 per glass, there's no better deal around. The three flavors are espresso, mocha mint espresso, and coconut espresso, each one just as delicious as the other.

My final words of advice for anyone looking to brave this unorthodox flight of booze is to always have a designated driver, call an Uber and, most importantly, drink responsibly.

10 out of 10, recommend!
