In case you haven't realized, the Christmas season is officially here. Everyone spent this past weekend decorating and getting ready for the jolly man in red. The 28th Annual Historic Holiday Tour is a classic holiday happening in New Bedford and it will be here this weekend.

The New Bedford Preservation Society plans this event year after year and the local historic homes never disappoint visitors.

This year you can capture the holiday spirit in these local homes on Saturday, December 14 from 4 to 8 pm, and Sunday, December 15 from 1 to 5 pm.

Starting points for both tours will be the Wamsutta Club at 427 County Street. And once you are there, they'll have a holiday raffle and silent auction during the tours hours as well.

"Visitors will be inspired by the varied architecture and interiors, all beautifully decorated for the season. Always popular on the tour are the costumed historic interpreters greeting visitors at one of the historic homes." - New Bedford Preservation Society

Tour tickets are $25 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased online through December 13 for $22. Tickets purchased online will not be mailed but will be held for you at the ticket table at the James Arnold Mansion.

I've always wondered what these houses look like on the inside, and what better time than when they're fully decorated for the most wonderful time of the year? I'd love to see what these homes might have looked like in their hay day, brought back to their former glory of historical magnificence.
