NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police are investigating a report of shots fired outside of the downtown.

Police were alerted to the possible shots fired report by ShotSpotter, the city's gunshot detection system. ShotSpotter indicated the possible gunshots originated in the 200-block of South Second Street at about 12:20 a.m. on Friday.

No injuries were reported.

New Bedford Police could not say whether evidence of gunshots, including shell casings and property damage, was found at the scene.
