New Bedford Police Arrest Repeat Offender on Gun Charges
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police detectives seized a firearm and arrested a man in the city’s North end recently.
Detectives executed a search warrant on October 27 at 117 Sylvia Street, Apartment No. 1 for a reported illegally-possessed weapon. Police said the target of the investigation was Christopher Bartolomey, 36.
Police said a 9mm Taurus handgun was discovered along with a magazine of ammunition. Bartolomey was arrested and charged with possession of a large-capacity firearm and ammunition without a license.
Bartolomey appears to have a lengthy criminal history. He was arrested for allegedly stealing dirt bikes from a semi-pro motocross racer in Wareham back in 2008, and in 2018 was arrested for allegedly attempting to sneak a large quantity of Viagra and other contraband items into the MCI-Shirley correctional facility.
Bartolomey was also arrested in New Bedford in 2019 for allegedly stealing a U-Haul truck while also having crack cocaine in his possession.
