NEW BEDFORD - City officials have announced details of this year's Independence Day fireworks display over New Bedford harbor.

The display will be staged from a barge located off of State Pier in New Bedford Harbor, beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sponsor 'Clean Uniforms and More!' contributed $25,000 to support the entire fireworks display for the city’s residents as they celebrate 100 years in business in New Bedford.

“Thanks to the generous support of Clean Uniforms and More!, New Bedford is looking forward to hosting a festive Fourth of July evening in downtown New Bedford,” said Mayor Jon Mitchell.

“We invite residents and visitors to spend time downtown on the Fourth of July to celebrate Independence Day with us and enjoy the fireworks display.

Spectators planning to watch the display in Downtown New Bedford are encouraged to park for free in the Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Parking Garage.

State Pier will not be accessible during the fireworks and there will be no parking on State Pier on the night of July 4. Lower Union Street (east of Water Street) will be closed to vehicle traffic and will be the best spot in the Downtown for pedestrians to view the fireworks display.

Tucker Roy Marine Towing & Salvage and AGM Marine Contractors are also supporting the 2019 City of New Bedford Fourth of July Fireworks Display this year by providing the commercial barge.
