JoAnn Auger works as a Nursing Assistant at The Oaks in New Bedford. Working more than 40 hours each week since the very beginning of the pandemic, she has provided care and safety to her residents, working several doubles a week.

The nursing assistant was nominated for the Spotlight SouthCoast Frontline Heroes program by Sara Auger. She knows that JoAnn wears her heart on her sleeve.

"In November, she suffered her third heart attack and was forced to have open-heart surgery," Auger said.

Her family had tried to get her to take a little time off, but JoAnn had just said that she had to get back to what she enjoys doing and that's to provide care for her residents.

"She fought to recover in just three months and has gone back to help keep her residents safe from this virus," Auger said. "She is a very caring and compassionate person."

JoAnn is just another example of the individuals who are going above and beyond the call of duty during this difficult time.

"She has put their needs above her own," Auger said.

Thank you, JoAnn, for all you do day in and day out.
