New Bedford Mother and Son Arrested After Police Find Ammo in Apartment

NEW BEDFORD - A mother and son have been arrested after police search their New Bedford apartment.

Members of the New Bedford Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the New Bedford Hotel, Apt. 401, on Pleasant Street at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Inside the apartment, police seized 99 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, 36 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device capable of holding fifteen rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.

Police arrested the occupants of the apartment, Lisa Gonsalves, 53, and her son, Dereck Gonsalves, 36.

Lisa and Dereck have both been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Dereck Gonsalves also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
