New Bedford Woman Experiences Unforgettable Moment With Joe Jonas on Stage [VIDEO]
Thanksgiving season can be emotional for many families, but for New Bedford’s Amanda Fletcher, this November carries a weight she never expected.
Just days after losing her mother Roxy to cancer, Fletcher found herself clinging to the one thing that has always bonded her family through every high and low: the Jonas Brothers.
Earlier this month, Joe, Nick and Kevin took the stage at Mohegan Sun, and in the middle of thousands of fans, one heartfelt message managed to stand out.
It belonged to Amanda.
A Concert Her Mom Was Supposed to Attend
Fletcher attended the Nov. 14 show alone and it was her first solo concert ever. Normally, she’d bring her sister, a friend or her nine-year-old son Landon, who proudly calls the Jonas Brothers his first-ever concert experience after seeing them at Fenway Park in Boston.
But this time was different.
It wasn’t just her first time going to a concert alone, it was her first concert since her mother’s passing on Nov. 6, just months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) on Aug. 15.
@ahmandaleaa A moment I’ll never forget: Joe saw my sign for my mom during her favorite Jonas Brothers song. This meant the world to me, and I hope you see this too. @joejonas @Jonas Brothers #joejonas #forroxy #griefjourney ♬ Leave Before You Love Me - Marshmello & Jonas Brothers
Fletcher shared on TikTok that her family – her mom, her sister, her kids and herself – has been “Jonas-obsessed” for two decades. Their music became a soundtrack through childhood, parenthood and every chapter in between. Her mother attended Fletcher’s very first JoBros concert back in 2009 and was planning to go with her again to Mohegan Sun this year.
In the hospital, as the family faced the heartbreaking conversations that come with a terminal diagnosis, they spent their time listening to every Jonas Brothers album together. Roxy had two favorites she played on repeat: “I Can’t Lose You” and “Leave Before You Love Me.”
A Sign for Mom — and a Sign Back
Before heading to the concert, Fletcher made a sign in honor of her mother so Roxy could “be” at the show with her even if she wasn’t physically there.
Then something happened that Amanda describes as “unforgettable.”
During her mother’s favorite song, “Leave Before You Love Me,” Joe Jonas paused, read, and acknowledged Fletcher’s sign – a moment that hit straight to the heart.
“That sign, it made me feel like my mom was right there next to me, singing along with me,” Fletcher said. “Joe acknowledging it was every bit of peace I needed.”
She’s been receiving “so many signs” from her mom since her passing, and this was one of the biggest yet.
Looking Ahead With Love and Strength
To the Jonas Brothers, Fletcher offers nothing but gratitude.
“Thank you for being the soundtrack to my family’s life for two decades,” she said. “I’m just so grateful to have had that experience.”

She and her sister are heading to the Providence show on Nov. 20, something they needed so badly” as they continue navigating life without their mother.
For Fletcher and her family, this season may be heavy, but one peaceful moment at Mohegan Sun reminded Fletcher that love, and music, have a way of finding you when you need it most.
