New Bedford Dog Missing After Kilburn Mill Escape
A New Bedford family is asking for the community’s help after their beloved dog Astro went missing Friday afternoon near the Kilburn Mill building in the South End.
According to Astro's owner Gilce Gomes, Astro slipped outside around 2 p.m. on February 14 without his collar. Their seven-year-old immediately ran after him but couldn’t catch up, and by the time Gomes got outside, Astro had already disappeared.
Since then, the family says the house hasn’t felt the same. They’ve been searching nonstop and holding onto hope that someone may have found him and kept him safe, but may not know how to contact them.
The Pup They’re Hoping to Find
Astro is described as very friendly with black-and-brown fur, and his hair has grown over part of his face. He responds to his name and is known to be gentle and approachable.
For families with pets, you know how quickly they become part of the family, and losing one – even temporarily – can be heartbreaking. The Gomes family said they’re staying hopeful and just want their dog safely back home.
