New Bedford metroPCS Store Robbed at Gunpoint
New Bedford Police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a metroPCS store on over the weekend.
The incident at the 37 Rockdale Ave. store occurred about 8:00 p.m. Saturday when the clerk said a man pointed a handgun at him and demanded money and iPhones, according to Public Information Officer Lt. Amos Melo.
The suspect fled towards Bolton St. with a substantial amount of cash and several iPhones. The clerk was unharmed.
The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately six feet tall, wearing a dark colored hoody and a black mask. He was also wearing a winter type coat and carrying a black bag. The firearm was described as being silver and black in color.
Police say the incident is not being linked to the robbery at Tedeschi's in the city's south end early Saturday morning.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance tape and asking anyone with information to call them at 508-992-7463.
