New Bedford Man Shot and Killed Outside Providence Nightclub
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A New Bedford man is gunned down in Providence over the weekend.
WJAR-TV reports that Jacorey Sanders, 25, of New Bedford, was found fatally shot in a car at Garnet and Pine Streets at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
Providence Police have taken two people into custody and say they will be charging them in connection to the fatal shooting. The men are identified as Anthony Sharpe and George Webb. Police are also searching for several other people believed to be involved in the shooting.
Sanders was being sought by New Bedford Police in connection to a drive-by shooting nearly two weeks ago in the city. He had an active warrant out for his arrest.
Providence Police say before the shooting, Sanders was with his girlfriend at a nightclub when he spotted several people from the Boston area that he suspected could hurt him. Investigators say three people were denied entry to the club, and police later escorted Sanders and accompanied him until he felt safe.
Police say the three individuals that were denied entry to the nightclub later met up with several other people, with the group spotting Sanders as he walked back to his car. Sanders was shot while he was getting into his car, police say.
The investigation is ongoing.
