New Bedford Man Arrested on Drug Charge After Car Blocked Traffic

NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man is under arrest after he's found with nearly 20 tablets of prescription drugs in his car.

Police were on patrol in the North End when they saw a car in the parking lot of Walgreen's at 1737 Acushnet Avenue with it's hazard lights on, obstructing traffic.

Upon further investigation, police found a bag containing 19 Xanax tablets in the car.

Police arrested the driver, Edward Bernardo, 36, of 132 Central Avenue, New Bedford. Bernardo is charged with possession of pills.
