Is there anything more wholesome than kites? Relaxing, taking your mind off everything and just focusing on keeping a piece of fabric flying high in the sky. Maybe you're with your little one, showing them how it's done. Or maybe you're the spectator, watching the colorful pieces float in the wind.

This summer, you can enjoy the New Bedford Kite Festival presented by DATMA. This isn't your average kite-flying experience, but next-level stuff. This free, family event invites both first-time flyers and the best stunt kite flyers to New Bedford's Historic Fort Taber for a day of soaring on the sea.

Special guests include; ConnectiKITERS, Sky Dog Kites, and Wind Wolves. Friends from New Bedford's North End community will present traditional Guatemalan kites. There will be demonstrations all day.

Complimentary arts & crafts provided by artMOBILE for the kids and young at heart. Bring your picnic blanket, lunch, and kite collection for this glorious day of amazement, thrill & excitement. Join the fun on Saturday, July 27 from 10 am to 6 pm. They will host a rain date of Sunday, July 28.
