NEW BEDFORD — Five public meetings in New Bedford and Acushnet have been scheduled on the last two days of February to talk about the future plans and goals of New Bedford High School, as it maintains sharp focus on continuing progress under its existing improvement plan. Serving New Bedford and Acushnet residents, NBHS seeks input from both communities on its renewed long-term vision and aspirations for the future of the school and its graduates.

The public is cordially invited to participate in any of five Community Engagement Meetings:

Tuesday, February 27:

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Carney Academy

6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Normandin Middle School

Wednesday, February 28:

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Roosevelt Middle School

5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Ford Middle School, 703 Middle Road, Acushnet

7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – New Bedford High School

All meetings are being facilitated by District Management Group (DMGroup), a Boston-based firm, which is engaging in conversations with a wide range of district and community stakeholders.

Focus groups have been held with NBHS students, parents, staff, administrators, and some community representatives to collect feedback and different perspectives on the needs of the high school and what it would like to see for the future of its graduates. The meetings seek to gather feedback from throughout the New Bedford and Acushnet communities.

The public’s perspective on the needs of the high school and the future of its graduates is extremely valuable in ensuring that NBHS is creating a vision that will lead to success in the future for its graduates and stakeholders – including families, teachers, business and community leaders.

Those unable to attend may provide feedback by answering an online survey.
