For the second time in two days, New Bedford Police seized a gun from a juvenile.

On Monday, April 4, detectives stopped a vehicle when they said the operator failed to use a directional signal when traveling north on Cedar Street and turning onto Willow Street.

During the traffic stop, officers said they observed a juvenile in the passenger seat, and under the seat was a silver firearm that turned out to be loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

The juvenile was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

It came a day after officers responded to a report of shots fired, and were told that three male juveniles were in Rural Cemetery when five gunshots went off.

Police said one juvenile was found in that incident and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
