The Coalition for Animals and New Bedford's Public Safety Departments are asking for the public's help in replenishing the city's supply of animal oxygen masks.

The supply was pretty much wiped out on March 21 when the New Bedford Fire Department responded to a fire at 303 County Street. Three people were rescued from the burning two-and-a-half-story structure, along with 24 cats. However, more than 30 cats perished in the fire.

NBCU (New Bedford Credit Union) stepped to the front of the line recently, making a $1,000 donation to the cause.
