In between major stories about the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge getting a redesign and parking at the Noah's Place Playground remaining free for another summer, the Paramount Pictures film Finestkind is quietly staying in the headlines here on the SouthCoast.

Since Fun 107 broke the news back in February, then followed it up with an article outlining all of the different places the movie makers would like to film in Fairhaven, we have been inundated with inquiries about whether or not there will be opportunities for walk-on roles.

The plotline of Fairhaven's other recent film, The Holdovers, which was shot at the town's high school, did not require any local extras to fill crowd scenes at football games or downtown shopping.

However, some good news for local Hollywood wannabes who would like to rub elbows with Tommy Lee Jones, one of the actors confirmed for the project.

Finestkind is, in fact, looking for some local people to help fill in some busier scenes. The movie's casting agency is accepting submissions.

In part, Kendall Cooper Casting is looking for authentic New Bedford-area fishermen with real-life experience.

The post asks for "experienced commercial fishermen and local New Bedford people of all ethnicities who are interested in working as extras on the film. Specifically looking to represent the diverse population unique to the New Bedford area (Cape Verdean, Portuguese and more). Casting is also seeking African American and/or mixed children and newborns."

Filming will generally take place Monday through Friday and is often a 12-plus-hour commitment for each day of work, however, those chosen will be compensated.

The only way to apply is by clicking on this link, completing the form, and uploading a current photo.  The casting agency will call the people who have been selected.

Best of luck. Remember us when you hit it big!
