Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! Let's talk animals.

There are hundreds of animals on the SouthCoast waiting to find a family. Thanks to the help of local shelters, we share their stories every Wednesday.

Each week, we shine a light on one of these loveable animals, and this week, we head to New Bedford where a sweet girl will undoubtedly make your heart melt.

Meet Ava. Ava is a 3-year-old, 48-pound hound mix currently residing at Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford. Ava is the sweetest hound you will ever meet.

"Ava has a knack for making friends, whether they are two or four-legged," said the shelter.

Ava is typically a social butterfly and loves to play with her doggy friends outside. She is a bit weary around smaller dogs, but typically, Ava is quiet and easygoing.

"Ava is just as happy sniffing around the yard as she is lounging by your side, making her an ideal companion for someone who loves a calm, low-key lifestyle," said the shelter.

Ava has experience with cats, loves a good walk to sniff around, and remains relatively chill.

"If you're looking for a sweet, gentle soul to add to your family, Ava might be your perfect match," said the shelter.
