Fun 107 is gearing up for one of New Bedford's most beloved annual traditions. The 2026 Day of Portugal celebration is returning with a packed schedule of live music, folkloric dancing, traditional food, and free admission for everyone.

How It All Kicks Off

The festivities begin on Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. with a flag-raising ceremony at New Bedford City Hall. The ceremony will have the singing of the national anthems of both the United States and Portugal, some quick speeches, followed by a performance by the Discovery Language Academy Folkloric Group. The public reception will follow at the Consulate of Portugal on Pleasant Street, New Bedford.

Three Days of Free Fun at Madeira Field

The best part of the "new" layout of Day of Portugal in New Bedford is the site itself. Madeira Field is known for its celebration of food, fun and everything Portugal.

On Friday, June 19, Fun 107 will be broadcasting a special afternoon edition of The MGM Show. Michael, Gazelle and Michaela will kick off the traditional Portuguese street festival with the live show from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Fun 107's coverage of New Bedford Day of Portugal is presented by Inner Bay Cafe, Duke's Bakery and Cafe, Michael's Linguica and Chourico, Sailhouse Tavern, Novo Mundo, Alibi Sports Lounge, Prima Care, Gene's Famous Seafood, Antonio's Restaurant and Craig Snell from Milestone Mortgage.

Admission is free all weekend long. A short parade will depart from Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church on Earle Street before a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opens the festival. Food booths will feature crowd favorites including malassadas, grilled sardines, bifanas, favas, and caçoila.  All the festival foods that draw thousands across the SouthCoast will be served.
