New Bedford's City Council voted last night to write an ordinance that would allow police to enforce curfews in the city's high crime spots. Those curfews would run from dusk to dawn. Councilors Jane Gonsalves and Debora Coelho expressed worries about creating a "police state" and even wondered if the ordinance would even be constitutional. It's still unclear exactly how the curfews would work. We were wondering if it would apply only to people on the street...or also to vehicle traffic. JR is a resident of New Bedford. He needs to be at work before the sun rises. Would he have to come to work late each day?
