New Bedford’s Carmine’s at Candleworks Has Been Sold
After over four years as a beloved Italian restaurant in downtown New Bedford's historic Candleworks building, Carmine's at Candleworks is closing its doors but will soon reopen under new ownership.
In a heartfelt announcement on social media, the owners revealed that this upcoming weekend will be their last before transitioning ownership to the local restaurant group, ServedWell Hospitality.
Effective October 14, 2024, the restaurant will cease operations under its current name and management. The decision to sell, while difficult for the owners, comes with a sense of optimism as Stephen Silverstein's ServedWell Hospitality – owners of The Black Whale, Cisco, Joe’s Original and The Sail Loft – prepares to take over.
In its statement, Carmine's assured loyal patrons that exciting upgrades are on the way, and that the new restaurant will remain Italian-themed, though it will undergo a rebranding. All current employees have been invited to return, and existing Carmine's gift cards will still be honored after the relaunch.
The owners also expressed deep gratitude to their patrons and staff, saying, “We couldn’t have done it over the last 4+ years operating out of this historic location without all of our valued guests and stellar staff.”
